Exciting AIX 2018 Show News!

Tapis enjoyed another successful week at the 2018 Aircraft Interiors Expo in Hamburg, Germany last month!

The new PromessaAV by Ultrafabrics® was a big hit. Manufactured using proprietary Takumi® technology which features a four-layer process, including a micro-foam layer designed to enhance comfort and dissipate heat, PromessaAV is the most comfortable cover material on the market for new or upgraded seating.

In addition to this successful product launch, we announced our strategic realignment with Ultrafabrics®, thus building on our existing 30-year relationship. The realignment allows Tapis to continue to focus on all segments of the aircraft interiors market, as well as innovations in flammability requirements, while also acting as sales agent in commercial upholstery seating.

For more than 30 years, Ultraleather® has been a staple in vertical surface applications. This year it was used in the new United Polaris Business Class cabin on all vertical surfaces of the seat shell. The vertical surface version of Ultraleather features several advanced technology options that ensure it meets the requirements of OSU 65/65, smoke density and smoke toxicity in a variety of common stackups.

Additionally, many Tapis products were featured in many booths at the show, including the following seating manufacturers:

  • Airbus
  • Airgo
  • Franklin Products
  • Geven SpA
  • Jamco Aerospace
  • LIFT by Encore
  • Mirus Aircraft Seating
  • Molon Labe Seating
  • Rebel Aerospace

The new Geven SpA seating program with Interjet features Ultraleather®.

Ultrasuede® was on display in Aim Altitude, Geven, Mirus and Soisa booths.

TapiSuede™ was shown in the booths of Airbus, Zodiac Aerospace, Kalogridis, MSB, Protostyle and MGR (pictured below).

All in all, it was another busy year for Tapis with our products on display in many booths across all interior applications on the show floor. Check out our Commercial Aviation page for more great photos.
